The WestConnex project is currently Australia's largest transport project, with construction heavily underway all across Sydney. Key construction sites include Concord, Haberfield, St Peters and Arncliffe. With the M4 Widening project recently finished, it is now full steam ahead for the M4 East and New M5 projects, with construction of each project expected to wind up in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Of course, with these projects comes huge amounts of roadworks, machinery and excavation. Short term pain for long term gain is perhaps the mantra for many residing in these construction-heavy areas, forced to deal with the associated noise and eyesore. Time will only tell if the WestConnex successfully helps solve Sydney's traffic woes.
A short video released by WestConnex in April 2017 can be viewed below, showing the various stages of construction along the project at the time.

This month (July 2017) I was able to take the below photos of the M4 East construction site in North Strathfield/Concord from Concord Road. This construction site is where the future Concord Road Interchange will be located.
Various roadworks have taken place here, most prominently the closure of an on-ramp from Concord Road onto the M4. This ramp formerly allowed traffic northbound on Concord Road to enter the M4 Westbound. Having recently been permanently closed to allow for construction of the interchange, traffic wishing to enter the M4 westbound from Concord Road must do so via Parramatta Road. The ramp will be replaced by a new on-ramp at Powells Creek before the M4 East opens. Remnants of the on-ramp are still visible, including on signs in the area, pictured below.
